Customising the Startup

When you purchase a full license for any of the March Hare Tools (except UD5 and MH3GLS) you also get source code, which includes the source for the startup banner and system tray icon.

When the DLL is loaded the startup banner is shown for a few seconds, and an icon is placed in the system tray. When the user left clicks on the system tray icon the startup banner is displayed, and when the user right clicks on the system tray icon they get a popup menu.

The options on the popup menu allow the user to invoke help or display an about box.

The following features can be very easily configured using the STRINGTABLE definitions in the Resource Template file that is supplied:

• BMP to use for startup banner ("MHTOOLS")
  
  
• ICO to use in system tray ("SMALL")
  
  
• HLP file to open (IDC_HELPFILE)
  
  
• Text on the About Dialog Box (IDC_COMPANY, IDC_FILEDESC, IDC_PRODVER, IDC_COPYRIGHT, IDC_TRADEMARK, IDC_WEBSTUFF, IDC_LABEL)
  
  
• Text on the BMP (IDC_BMPSTR)

The DLL must then be recompiled using the supplied makefile.
