You probably have an already checked-out sandbox and it's using the
old root from that. Delete your sandbox and checkout again, or use a
change-root script.
I'd also report the problem with the pathnames to the Unix cvs people
as it needs fixing at their end (it shouldn't be necessary to use
repository roots).
