I ran into this problem too. Windows 2000 Workstation SP2 Client,
Windows 2000 Workstation SP2 Server. This is a problem specific to the
beta version (it doesn't happen on the stable version). I am using
NTSERVER protocol.
Here is how I tested it:
1. Remove all CVSNT stuff from computer (uninstall, delete registry keys)
2. Install Build 41. Create & initialize new repository
3. Test Build 41 with "cvs checkout CVSROOT" -- Everything is OK
4. Remove Build 41 (uninstall, leaving registry alone)
5. Install Build 51
6. do the same "cvs checkout CVSROOT" with the same CVSHOME;
cvs [checkout aborted]: authorization failed: server m43414
rejected
access to e:/brian/test
7. Create a new repository using build 51. try to check out from the new
repository: same error
8. Uninstall build 51
9. Install Build 41.
10. issue "cvs checkout CVSROOT" on the repository created with build 51
the checkout succeeds
