The unix directory separator works fine with cvs - no need to change.

cvs -d :ntserver:foosrv:f:\CVSRepository ->  cvs -d
:ntserver:foosrv:f:\CVSRepository

     i get this nomather what
     ..
     cvs -d :ntserver:foosrv:f:/CVSRepository/ get /foorep

     set CVSROOT=:ntserver:foosrv:f:/CVSRepository/
     cvs get /foorep

     both of these produce the same error:

     cvs checkout: unknown method in CVSroot:
:ntserver:bro:f:/CVSRepository
     cvs [checkout aborted]: Bad CVSROOT.

     I'm using domain auth with ntserver. cvs.exe from the cvsnt distro.
     help!
