[cvsnt] Protocol error; misformed Notify request

I am getting above error when tried to checkout a file.
I am using cvsnt server 1.11.1.2 build 40 on windows 2000 and client 
wincvs 1.2 running on windows 2000 professional.

any idea what's happening.
