Apples/Oranges... the lockservice handles local locks to stop multiple 
instances of the server from clashing.  All the standard CVS remote access 
methods work with or without it.

You can in fact disable the use of the lockserver but it's not recommended 
(lockserver gives you better granularity and doesn't allow dangling locks etc.)

The main cvsnt repository runs on cvsnt on Unix...
