It's more the other way around... that WinXP home doesn't support 
networking apps.  It's been purposefully crippled by MS so that you 
CAN'T use it properly with networked applications.  Upgrade to XP Pro or 
Linux and you'll get better networking functionality.

As a client though, WinXP Home works fine.  Similarly, XP Pro works fine 
as client or server.
