Branches. We are talking about branches. What good is a branch if I am 
not allowed to commit more than one revision to it??? Cos that's what 
you're effectively saying if you want to forbid reusing Vendor branches 
for subsequent Imports...

Well, for maintaining both regularly updated third-party sources and my 
own modifications to them I have found them to be quite useful.

I'm still under the impression however that we're not talking about the 
same things...
