Well the reason is that I am archiving away the module at this point, so I
will have the complete record available in storage.
I would rather keep the revision numbers as they are now, rather than
starting and back at 1.1

That would be a very dangerous undertaking and I'm not sure why you
would do such a thing, the whole point of CVS is to track changes.
Paring down binaries maybe...
I think the answer to your question is "no" and IMHO that's for a good
reason.
