[cvsnt] What does release do differently from delete?

You don't ever need to 'cvs release' a sandbox...
All cvs release does that is not done by a simple delete in Windows Explorer
is that it sets some kind of marker in the CVSROOT/history file on the server,
but that is about all it does. And the history file is not much use either,
we never ever used it in the almost 4 years we have used CVSNT.
(Gosh, is it that long? Time flies when you have fun, doesn't it!)
Just deleting the folder in Windows Explorer works fine.

Subject: [cvsnt] What does release do differently from delete?
I recently performed a checkout with the username "lgo2" and then (not
thinking) asked my system admin to change my account name to something more
meaningful such as "siegfried".
I assume I cannot do a release on that sandbox any more. Will I regret
deleting it?
Do I need to have my sys admin create that old lgo2 username again so I can
release that sandbox?
Thanks,
Siegfried
