1. Sharing of the repository folders is HIGHLY DISCOURAGED!
Basically you should NEVER do this!!!!
2. You say you need to do this in order to "import project from client"
Why? Did you ever study how CVS works? Noone at all except the CVS
service should have access to the repository files!
The cvs import command does not work through file sharing, it is a
part of the CVS client/server communication.
This sounds like you have grossly misunderstood how CVS works...

Bo Berglund

Subject: [cvsnt] Don't want to share the Repository folder
Hi All,
Client: Wincvs 2.0
Server: CVSNT 2.5.03.2260
Protocol: SSPI
OS: Windows Professional 2000
Repository location=C:\Data\Proj\Devl\ACM
Repository name=/ACM
CVSROOT=:sspi:SV0I-0005:/ACM
I have to share the repository folder i.e 'ACM' on
the Server to import project from client side. This
make 'ACM' folder visible to all on server. So,any
body can checkout any project and this is not secure.
I don't want to share ACM folder. Is sharing of ACM
folder is necessary?it is not working when i shared
the Data folder.I want to define a path for it so
that no body can view the repository
Please help.
Thanks & Regards
Sabahat Adil Imam
