Hi again,
Well, I hve not said that it's not supported by CVS or CVSNT.
There is an option in CVS to force the revision it's the '-r'
option........
Check the following link,, some previous discussion about forcing
revision:
http://www.cvsnt.org/pipermail/cvsnt/2003-August/007924.html
regards
vinay

Hi all,
The requirement we have is a little different. We were looking
if CVS would allow us to do what we would require. If not, we will have
to change some of our directory structures we are maintaining for our
projects.
So we wanted to make sure we go ahead.
I would like to give a brief up of what we are planning to do.
Say I have two directories maintained for some specific purpose. Say
"Dir_A"
and "Dir_B".
I start my development on Dir_A and the version numbers of the files in
increase as and when we commit. Say after some specific deliverable I
would like to move the files from Dir_A and move them to Dir_B and
continue with my development.
Now when we move from Dir_A to Dir_B, I would like to add and commit the
files from Dir_B with the current version numbers in Dir_A. But by
default CVS would start the version numbers from 1.1, that is the reason
we wanted to use force revision while adding and committing from Dir_B.
Is this possible, from your replies we notice that this is not supported
in current versions of CVS or CVSNT.
Thanks and regards
prasanna

hi there,
CVS maintains it's internal revision number automatically,,,,and you
dont hve to bother about it.
There is an option called 'Tag'......You can use Tagging to give a
particular internal revision number a symbolic name, label,......
Check the Tag option....

vinay

Hii.
When I commit my files, automatically the cvs server changes the
revision from 1.1 to 1.2,
How can I change the CVS Revision from 1.x to 2.x using force
revision/force committing?
Thanks
Nithin
