[cvsnt] cvs delete branches

Hi,
Every month we are creating 5-8 branches for our projects requirement , i would like to delete the old branches(few months back), here my questing is  is it good practice to delete the branches in cvs, if we delete what are the advantages?, if not what are the disadvantages?
