[cvsnt] cvsnt server assertion: pos+len<=file1.size()

cvsnt client and server: 2.5.03.2382

I try to execute the following command
cvs -d :pserver:andy at localhost:/cvs checkout -N -P -r1.1 -- 
QUARTIS/_dev/doc/Doc-O-Matic4.zip

and get the following response

cvs checkout: warning unrecognized response `cvsnt: cvsdelta.cpp:558: 
bool cvsdelta::patch(const ByteArray&, const ByteArray&, ByteArray&): 
Zusicherung "pos+len<=file1.size()" nicht erfüllt.' from cvs server

Zusicherung is german for assertion which obviously resolved to false.

What is the problem here? Is this bug fixed in 2.5.04?
