[cvsnt] Betr.: Removing a file from CVS

Hello,

Are you using CVS intead of CVSNT? In CVSNT (as far as I know) there is no
more Attic folder and removed files stay in the same folder, even when
they are deleted. In CVSNT if you are absolutely sure you will never ever
want to go back to a file (ie it was added by mistake, should never have
been added and wastes a significant amount of space) you can just remove
the ,v file from the repository.
That's not really adviced and you'd probably want to make a backup of your
entire repository in advance, but I have done it in the past and it has
never cause me any issue.
Just make sure you don't make this a habit, it's not for normal removes.
If you're on the old CVS I'd assume you can just remove the files from the
attic folder and all will be fine, but I'm not sure and I'd backup the
repository before trying and seeing what happens. I'd also upgrade the
server to CVSNT ;-)

Kind Regards,
