Integrating Uniface with other technologies

Introduction

End-to-end integration focuses on taking an organization's business to the Internet. Traditionally, efforts concentrated on what are known as tightly coupled systems using component models such as COM, CORBA and EJB Enterprise JavaBeans. This is the most challenging tasks for IT organizations.

Most projects focused on integrating back-office systems, whereas business-to-business e-commerce creates the need for customer-facing, web-based applications. These applications leverage the integration of back-office systems and create a completely new front end for customers, suppliers and partners.
Integrating various technologies that may be from different manufactures and include multiple release versions is a complicated task. Although standard connectors and adapters make integration easier, specific situations require customized integration. When developers need to connect APIs at a low level, this becomes a lengthy and costly exercise. The need for an environment, such as Uniface, that allows application developers to work at a higher level of abstraction, while leveraging standard connectors and adapters, is vital.

Our plan is to have several sections related with Uniface integration with 3rd party software, such as Microsoft world (DDE, VBX, OLE, OCX, COM, .NET) and non-Microsoft world. so feel free to share with the rest of the Uniface community your knowledge. As always any feedback will be welcome. Help us to help you !
