Define Format

Define a format to be used for Drag & Drop.

Format name

The name of a Drag & Drop format (max. 16 characters), which can be used in the widget properties DRAGFORMAT and DROPFORMAT.

Language code

Enter the language code for the popup menu texts that you are defining.

Example: NL = Netherlands

Description

A description that you can use for information and retrieval purposes.

The description can be a maximum of 25 characters.

You can enter retrieve profile characters to retrieve the object, because this field is a fixed-length field.

Default action

In the radiogroup, indicate which of the 3 actions "Move", "Copy" or "Create Shortcut" is the default drop action for this format.

The drop action will be shown in bold when a popup menu is shown (with right-mouse dragging).

Options

Use the checkboxes to define which drop actions are allowed.
At least one checkbox must be checked.

Use the editboxes to define the texts for the popup menu, which will be shown with right-mouse dragging.

Mouse pointer icon

Define a mouse pointer icon to give visual feedback in which format an object will be dropped on a drop target.

You should define a secondary glyph with white pixels at the places where you want the cursor to shine through.

Comments

Enter any comments that should be associated with the format.

Drag & drop properties

The Drag & drop properties form can be accessed via the button "Drag&Drop" from:

Supported drag formats

You can select a format in the list of library formats and copy it to the supported drag formats using the <- button.

Add a format by typing using the + button.

Remove a supported drop format with the - button.

Accepted drop formats

You can select a format in the list of library formats and copy it to the accepted drop formats using the <- button.

Add a format by typing using the + button.

Remove an accepted drop format with the - button.

The sequence of accepted drop formats is important (see "What is Drag & Drop"), so you can change the sequence with up and down arrows.

List of library formats

The list shows which formats are available in the selected library.

The >> button can be used to select another library.

Use field actions for all drop formats

If you select the checkbox "Use Field Actions for all Drop Formats", you can set the actions which will be applicable for all objects dropped on this drop target.
By default the format of the selected object determines the drop actions.

Default action

The default action is dimmed unless the checkbox "Use Field Actions for all Drop Formats" is checked.
